Breast Cancer Group Accomplishments

2008

Accomplishments for this group in 2008 are:

1. Established a working relationship with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, SW Michigan Affiliate, to work towards achievement of goals, objectives and strategies
2. Worked with Susan G. Komen for the Cure to provide publicity about Komen Race for the Cure and Pink Saturdays to allow more women to receive free mammograms during the last two Octobers
3. Placed one member of the committee on the Michigan Cancer Consortium Board of Directors
4. Spearheaded the initiation of a self referral program for women requesting a mammogram

2007

Accomplishments for this group in 2007 are:

1. Participation in health fairs to educate the public about breast cancer
2. Educated area providers through the BCHS Cancer Symposium in March 2007

Goals for 2008 are:

1. Launch an awareness campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October to educate patients and physicians about the importance of screenings
